Billy Reid / Florence, Alabama

Senior Designer - Men’s + Women’s, 2019 - Present

Menswear:

  • Managed the design assortment of 200 skus per season between men’s knits, sweaters, and

woven bottoms

  • Collaborated with our technical design and merchandising team to establish fit standards for men’s knits

  • Managed my direct report in men’s woven shirts, supported them to establish a woven’s base program in response to wholesale requests, create custom fabrics, and engineer allocation to meet our assortment needs

  • Designed wholesale exclusives, key programs, and fabrics specific to our retail and wholesale needs. Our overall knit sales increased from 2020 to 2021

  • Established a core men’s sweater program, including Billy Reid items such as, the Mini Waffle Crew. The overall men’s sweater sales increased from 2018 to 2019

Womenswear:

  • Managed the design assortment of 120 skus per season between women’s knits, sweaters, outerwear, tailored, dresses, bottoms, and woven tops

  • Established a women’s core knit and collaborated with our technical designer to standardize fits

  • Worked closely with our technical design team to create fit standards for woven tops and knits

  • Collaborated with our textile designer to create custom seasonal silk prints and jacquards

  • Managed my direct report on custom prints/jacquards and soft goods developments (bandanas, blankets, socks, and scarves)

  • Partnered with the Head of Production to implement calendar milestones for the Design team, such as, custom development reviews and internal sketch reviews

  • Oversaw the creation of wholesale materials (CADs + swatch books) to use for market during the COVID pandemic

  • Attended Milano Unica, Pitti Filati, and design trips for seasonal fabric/yarn sourcing, concept building, and market research

  • Visited our factories in the United States, Europe, Canada, and South America and worked with our vendors on construction/garment approvals, fabric creation, and graphic developments (screen prints and appliques)

Designer - Men’s + Women’s, 2016 - 2019

  • Collaborated with the creative director and senior design director on concept, silhouette, fabric, and color direction

  • Managed the design assortment of 80 skus per season for men’s knits and sweaters, including a graphics program working closely with our vendor on screen prints, appliques, and placement

  • Managed the design assortment of women’s knits and sweaters, sales increased from 2018 to 2019

  • Worked closely with the development team on knit fabric creation, stitch developments, and seasonal lab dips

  • Partnered with the merchandising and wholesale team on color selection and product creation based on selling analysis, customer feedback, and SMU developments for wholesale partners

  • Created men’s core knit styles, such as the Washed Tee, and worked with our vendor on custom washes and dye treatments

  • Collaborated with our design team to organize looks and alterations for fashion shows and NYFW
